Specializes in S.N.& LTC- Hospital.

I'm a Certified Nurse Assistant, and I've been Certified for over four years now, I just moved up to Wixom, MI and I'm having a hard time finding a job in a nursing home or hospital. I've applied to several ads asking for a experienced CNA, but I haven't heard back from anyone, I guess my question is Do anyone know of any nursing homes who are currently hiring? Please let me know, Thanks.

With your experence you should not have too much trouble getting a job. Often it is not about your experence but how you go about applying for the job and about how well you interview. You can't just send out an application and wait for someone to call. You call them a day or so after you know they have your app. You ask them if there is any other information they need or if you can come in for an interview because you would love the work in their facility. If you don't sound up bet, and exciteded like you are ready to work they will move on to someone who does. If you are going in for an interview you must get ready. Dress in nice clothes, groom your hair neatly, take off excess jewelry and not to much makeup. How is your breath? This all may sound pretty extreme but ask ANY employment agency and they will tell you that the interviewer makes up his/her mind about you in the first 10 seconds. How is your handshake? Do you look the interviewer in the eye when you talk to them? Smile and say please and thank you. I am sure you can find a lot of interviewing for a job information online.

After an interview you write a letter and thank them for their time and ask if there is any more information they need from you. Also call after an interview and talk to the interviewer and thank them, etc. Many people think getting a job is just filling out an application and handing it in. It can be as much work, especially in a tight job market, as doing the job once you get it. Good Luck and keep trying, you'll get it!!
