Are you a Canadian RN who relocated to the USA?

Published

Hi All,

I was just wondering if anyone who was an RN in Canada and relocated to the USA is willing to share their thoughts and experiences on their relocation.

I am not so interested in the process as I've been through all of that and am now licensed in CA.

Things I'm interested in hearing about are:

Did you use a recruitment company for placement? (I am looking for permanent placement and green card sponsorship).

How did you find just working and living in the US overall? I am 35 and have two young children and have been an OR RN in Canada since I graduated in 2003.

We want to live somewhere with a nice, mild climate. Please share where you live and why you like it. And where you work!

Share anything! Thanks for your time!

i've been working in the US for about almost 3 years i am from Canada i didn't use a recruitment company i came here on a TN visa which is good for up to 3 years after working with the hospital for about almost 2 years i asked if they would sponsor my green card and they said yes but only under 1 condition which was that i for the cost. so i am currently going thru the process. I found working in the US from my point of view a lot more easier for me then from when i was working in Canada not as stressful i am doing a lot more less then what i was doing in Canada. I am in Georgia and i love it everything is a lot cheaper over here can purchase a nice house in a nice area for more then half of the cost in canada

Thank you for your response! I've heard Georgia is beautiful. I would go there I think!

your best bet to not make things complicated just try and find a job and go for your TN and when you have your foot in the door for about a year & a half then inquiry about them sponsoring you for a green card and go from there
