Does anyone have any experience with them? they are recruiting me and stated to me that the "sign on bonus" that I receive comes directly from them and if something happens it does not have to be paid back. I find this incredibly hard to believe. Can anyone give insight to this?

They offered me a job awhile back. They flew me out to Phoenix and put me up in the Biltmore, and paid for everything...rent car, gas, food etc. I did not take the job b/c I did not want to live in Phoenix...too hot! The hospital really did not pay well either! They also contacted me about going to work in RI, but the pay there was terrible compared to the cost of living!

I know they told me they would pay me the bonus directly, but I think they told me I would have to pay it back if I did not stay at the hospital for 2 years! I am not 100% sure though.

Good Luck!

I took the job at JCL through Aquent, you are right, what they told me on the telephone and what they wanted me to sign was different. I was told I would not have to pay anything back, the letter they wanted me to sign states a "2 year commitment" with no chance to transfer out of the department for 1 year, hospital policy is 6 months. Aquent stated wonderful things, JCL had me sign for a 2 year commitment stipulating I couldn't leave department for 1 year. I planned on taking ACLS and PALS so that I could transfer to ER. When I got on the floor, the nurses on days were wonderful, nights was a different story. They slept in patient rooms when not busy, talked about patients. I made one comment during a converstation with them and they told the nurse manager. She called me in the office to speak to me about it. I told her that I never said anything worse or more than the rest of the staff nurses. She told me not to let it bother me, but I looked at her and says, "well, it must have bothered you enough to say something to me, and it does bother me." I went home very upset, I drive 1 hour to work each day to get there and thinking about a one year comittement in that department made me sick. I also found out I was hired at a lower wage than new nurses (I have 10 years + experience) and I think it was due to the money that aquent was giving me. This really set me off. I have since found a job closer to home 2 miles, make $4 an hour more, and although it is not a hospital, it will do for now. I cannot believe these agencies suck you in, promise you all this stuff, then when hired, it is not what is stated. What scared me was the letter I signed stated if I took any relocation money or sign on bonus from them (JCL) and did not work 2 years, they would obtain attorney and sue me for the money back. I worked one place that stated you had to work one year or pay money back. But you could leave the department in 6 months. Has anyone ever heard of this?

They also made a 2 month schedule out without asking me what days I needed off. I told them when hired I wanted to work 3-12's in a row. They had me working 2, off 2, working 2, off 3, work 1, off 3, etc. They were doing holiday scheduling and scheduler asked everyone what holidays they wanted but did not ask me. The day shift works every 3rd weekend, nights voted on every other weekend. When I spoke to nurse manager about schedule, she stated that they plugged me into someone esle's schedule. I reminded her that I wanted to work 3 in a row and she says the only way I could do that was to work 6-12's in a row. When she hired me, it was not a problem.

I probably would have stayed if it were not for the hour drive which was only 25 miles from my home. I just couldn't go to work each shift thinking about how I am getting screwed by this aquent.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

I have not had this happen but have heard of it. Why anyone would need a contract like "that" is beyond me in this day of Nurses being the marketable product that is sought after.

I am sorry this has happened to you. I would recommend you seek an attorney to make sure you are not obligated to reimburse anything to the Agency or the Facility.

Let us know how you are doing.
