Applying for Scholarships and Finding Loan Forgiveness Programs

Published

This thread is really for anyone that has been awarded a scholarship and/or has been chosen for a loan forgiveness program (meaning pre-student nurses, student nurses, or graduated nurses). What set you apart from all the other applicants? Do you think it was your grades or test scores? Your clinical or non-clinical experience (if so, be specific)? The fact that you were in the right place at the right time (i.e. minority status, in-state status, met all the requirements)? Would your career goals or school of choice have been the same without that financial assistance (i.e. being accepted into the nurses corp program)?

Pertaining more to scholarships and those that were given awards to out of state schools, how did you find out about those scholarships? If they covered a major amount of the tuition, what type of steps did you have to take to apply and when did you hear back? Also, if anyone knows about any financial aid programs (i.e. loan forgiveness) that could be more well known than they are, I'd like to hear about them.

I'm looking for any answers to these questions. I know there are quite a few program recipients on this forum.

Specializes in NICU, Trauma, Oncology.

Every scholarship program is different in what they require to be eligible and amount given. This question is way too broad to be answered specifically.

I'm looking for individual example for people that have been accepted into loan forgiveness programs or received a scholarship.
