Applying for RN job prior to graduation, how to format resume??

Hi,

I will be graduating with a BSN in October of 2010. I want to start applying for jobs early, because I am moving from WI to CO and need to have a job lined up, but I am not sure how I should format my resume since I am not yet an RN, nor am I even a graduate nurse yet. I know lots of people suggest applying while in the last semester of school though. How do you format the resume and cover letter when I really don't yet meet the requirements of the positions listed? I am halfway through an accelerated program, so I've had clinical through Med-Surg II.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Thank you!

Since I didn't have any experience in health care I added up my clinical hours and added that to my resume. Some people suggest this some don't but since I had fairly heavy rounds of clinicals in the area I wanted to practice in I do think that helped. Your objective will specify that you are looking for new grad opportunities and as for the degree I would put Bachelors of Science Nursing (October 2010) with the school name etc. Good luck and kudos for starting to apply early.

thanks jules! i will take your advice and add up the clinical hours....can't hurt to show that. i just feel kind-of weird applying for RN jobs as an SN, but it seems to be what people do....otherwise I'd be waiting until after graduation! :-)
