Applying Nursing schools in UK

Published

Hey folks:

My sister wants to apply for a nursing school in UK. We currently live in U.S. How hard to get into nursing school in U.K? There is long waiting list to get into nursing program in U.S.

Anyone wants to recommend some nursing programs in U.K? We are looking for a school with low tuition fee. Everything in U.K is more expensive. Thanks. John

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

You just need to apply to the university on where she wants to train but will be very expensive as classed as International student. Don't think there are waiting lists if International. Will see if I can find links on student in the UK from International.

Hey John. You can use the UCAS website to apply for a Nursing Degree (BSc/BNurs) or Diploma courses (DipHE).

It really depends where you want to study and get clinical/hospitals attachments. If you actually go to the UCAS website and search for the nursing courses available, you'll notice that most UK unis offer this vocational course.

As with International student fees, you may have to pay at around £8120 per year. UK 'Home' students pay nothing as Nursing course is either means tested or bursary funded.

Compared to other courses such as Medicine, Law or Biomedical Sciences, nursing is a lot easier to get into. Depending on what you can offer to the Nursing School i.e. qualifications, work experience, extra curricular activities, etc. then you'll be fine.

Nursing courses usually start September. The deadline of submission of application forms through UCAS is on the 15th January I think. So Better hurry, and good luck!
