Applying to multiple states- New RN Grad Resume, Cover Letter Critical Care units Advice

Published

Hello Everyone!

Thank you so much for reading in advance. I'm graduating from an accelerated BSN program next month as considering it will be my second career, feel very nervous and like i'm starting all over again. I had my first degree in business and was an IT consultant and honestly did not have a huge problem getting interviews. I still till this day have recruiters contacting me, though i'm not sure where my business resume is posted and it also has not been updated in three years!

As i'm making this transition and although my program has a transition class in our coursework, I would love advice on how to write a competitive New Grad resume from any hospital recruiters. I was a CNA for a year prior to my program and I have that experience in detail on my resume, and the clinical experiences are in a long list...should I remove the CNA bullet points and add in clinical bullet points since I am applying for an RN and not CNA job? I have an interview in the unit I did my preceptorship next week however, I had applied to the same hospital and never heard anything, and then the clinical director contacted me directly to apply, and all of a sudden the recruiters are interested. Like how do I get past all the ATS systems and the recruiters without networking? Also, I would love to apply in different states as well but I find it may be harder to land a RN residency that way. Would love any tips from nurses who got into New Grad programs in other states. Happy to send my resume over to anyone willing to look, it's currently 2 pages and I need to get it down to one and wondering how to include my 7 years of non nursing experience. Thanks so much in advance!
