Applying to a city hospital?

Published

Hello,

I would just like to ask what would be the best way to apply to Coney island hospital in NYC as a RN? I only have my ASN and am enrolled in a BSN program. I got my license in August 2019. Plus, I have a temp. job as a clinic nurse that will end soon and this was only for 2 months. I have been applying to this hospital and a few other city hospitals online but I haven't gotten any responses. Should I just go to the HR dept and hand in a resume or go to individual floors and hand my resume to the charge nurses? or is there any other way to get at least an interview?

Many hospitals do online only, and will not accept resumes in person. Does this hospital prefer BSN? If so, it may be why you're not hearing anything back. It takes time for HR to sort through applications and forward to managers. Then managers need to determine who to interview. NYC is a tough market for new grads-most want a BSN + experience. You may not get hospital/acute. Try casting a wider net distance wise. Try clinics, LTC, dialysis, and corrections. Not dream jobs, but gets skills, and employment history.
