Anyone else that feels like they've applied but didn't get an email......

Make sure that the application you submitted was to nursing and not general studies with a concentration in pre-nursing.

Apparently a least one person so far thought they applied to the spring nursing program but what she or he actually did was apply to general studies with a concentration in pre-nursing.

Ccri or URI!! URI has lots of classes that don't fill up as fast as ccri but ccri costs like 5$ more. I'm doing mine October 8th in Newport!

Yes!! Just like you would if you were to sign up for classes! It's under the "health" section and then it's CPR for health care providers I believe it's AHA approved and everything

Hello All,

I have been stalking this thread for awhile now and after taking a few days to process my emotions, I have decided to share my thoughts and feelings about the grueling process I have endured while applying for CCRI's nursing program (figured this would be a good outlet for it).

I first started my journey with CCRI back in September of 2006 fresh out of high school with plans to become an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA). Although it took me a little longer than initially planned (due to being young and not focused, not mad about it), I did eventually accomplish this goal. I graduated in May of 2010, sat for my boards, passed, and landed my first "big girl job" as an Occupational Therapist Assistant by August of 2010. I love being an Occupational Therapist Assistant, however after working for about a year or so, I started to heavily consider furthering my education. At first I was thinking about going back to school to get masters and become a registered Occupational Therapist (OTR), that just seemed like the next logical step. I thought about what I would want to do in the long term of things in regards to my career, and after being exposed to a lot of different aspects of the medical field, I knew that I wanted to stay in health care.

I decided to go back to school at CCRI for nursing (considering I had so many credits with them already from before, and most of them the same pre-req's for nursing) in Spring of 2013. I took one class at a time during the fall and spring semesters over the years so that way I could work and afford the monthly payments and not take out any more student loans. As each semester and year past the requirements kept changing, which made me feel like I was never going to get to apply. As I met with multiple different advisors from CCRI at various campuses throughout this time I was told something different each and every time, which made me feel lost and hopeless. I eventually finished taking all the pre-requisites and all the gen-ed classes required throughout the program and in order to graduate (that way I only have to worry about the nursing classes only, if and when accepted).

Due to the constant changing of requirements, I have taken classes that are not only not a pre-req but not even in the curriculum any longer, and have retaken classes for a second time for that A. I worked extremely hard and have earned almost all A's with an exception to a B/B+ in physiology and Micro. I had all A's for all my pre-req classes (after taking them twice) and a high enough score on my HESI to not be worth retaking. My cum GPA was working against me, giving me only ~27 points. This was due to all the classes taken during the OTA program that are not used for the nursing program but including in my GPA. No matter how good I did this time around that cum GPA was not coming up.

I retook english and psychology over this past summer for that A and did everything I could have possibly done to increase my odds in getting into the nursing program. I finally applied this past august for the Spring 2017 semester with Lincoln as my first choice (total of 181.2 points). I was ECSTATIC and relieved when I got my acceptance email on Friday. I not only got into the nursing program, but I got into my first choice! Hard work and perseverance do pay off! Never give up, even threw the uphill battles throughout the process! The accomplishment wouldn't feel as good without those difficult moments!

P.S.- I should have listened to my parents when they told me to do good in school because if I had listened and did well the fist time around, I would have never had to stress about my points and retake half the classes I did. $$$ We live We learn.
