Applying to CCAC nursing program but haven't taken A&P

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am applying for CCAC's RN program over the summer for the Spring 2011 semester. I have completed two semesters of prereqs and got a 4.0 both semesters.

I am concerned because I have not taken any A&P classes yet. They aren't required to get into the program but I know you receive extra points towards your total score and it seems everyone else has completed at least one of the A&P classes. I also am worried how this will effect my score on the PAX as I will have to study on my own what most people learn over a full semester (not to mention the physics).

Just wondered if anyone got into the program without completing any A&P classes prior to applying. I worked really hard to get good grades and would hate to have to wait another semester just because I haven't taken this class yet.

Somehow I missed the part about you not have all of your prereqs done. How!? lol

No, you cannot be admitted without having the prereqs done. Your application will be rejected out-of-hand right off of the bat because you don't meet the qualifications. Doesn't matter how good your other scores and grades are.

But, make sure that what you're calling a prereq is really a prereq and not a corequisite! Have you taken Chemistry in college or in high school? How about Bio? And did you take the 1-credit computer elective?

Try this link: http://www.ccac.edu/default.aspx?id=141050 and go to where it says "nursing course progression." Click it and see the prereqs; they are in gray boxes. Things like Eng 101, 102, API, APII, Micro, etc are not required beforehand to get admitted. They are coreqs.

Yes, I've taken chem, bio and the computer class. I even have extra credits that I've already taken like anatomy and psychology. The class that i'm talking about(I should have been more clear) is a class you don't really need to get into the nursing program. It is an english class that some people have to take before they can take regular english You can test out of it! I was wondering, since i have such good grades etc, do u think they would overlook that because the class is for people who don't do well enough to prepare them for regular english? I thought that the would because i don't honors english in hs and got really good grades in hs. Plus my college grades are very good too!

I was looking up the prereqs for CCAC's nursing program, and apparantly you have to either place directly into Eng 101 or you have to have completed through Eng100 with at least a "C." So, I don't think you're eligible at this point for admission, regardless of your HS grades. Unlike with the Chem requirement where you can fulfill that requirement through having taken Chem in hs, with English, it doesn't say anything along those lines.

So, what I would recommend is that you complete the developmental English courses this Fall, or if you haven't already, take the Eng placement test at CCAC and try to place at least into Eng 101.

I just completed English 101 as a 6-week summer class, and I enjoyed it!

Maintain your grades and complete those requirements and you should be set!

Was looking for advice. I took my PAX exam (paper) on August 18th and don't think the scores will be back in time for the August 31st application deadline, will this disqualify me ?
