Applying for band 6 secondment Help!

Hi, i'm applying for a band 6 secondment on my ward to cover mat leave but their is no job description. Also only need to send cv and covering letter. CV not a problem but not sure what to put in covering letter. Have looked at some other job decriptions online and include some things about leadership and managing teams and communication. Also mentioned how i felt i could contribute to an inititive about to start on the ward. does this sound ok? by the way ward is a medical ward

Its going to be very difficult to establish exactly whats expected without a job description, this would be a concern to me.

As far as covering letter, mine usually consist of dear sir, please find attached my CV for consideration of the role of seconded band 6 nurse. Did they suggest they wanted more, if so think of quality indicators ( infection rates etc) and think of how you could help improve care.
