Applied to JHU Trad BSN 2008 early decision

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi!

I submitted my application for the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON) in early Oct (deadline was in Nov) for early decision to the Traditional 21 month BSN Program beginning in 2008. Has anyone else applied? I am supposed to hear from them Dec 15th, but that's on a Saturday. When do you think they will call?

Thanks,

I know you have a choice between a personal interview and one over the phone. From what I have heard, in person is best. I think they really observe your persistence.

I'm sorry but I disagree. Based on my conversation with the admissions counselors you are NOT penalized if you opt for the phone interview. In my case I really wanted to go out there, but the timeframe for booking travel was too tight and I didnt want to spend a fortune. They actually went out of their way to let me know that you are not penalized if you don't go in person, each interview type if treated equally.

I took your advice and did call. Apparently they don't always do interviews for BSN, but they said if I would like to arrange one they would set up a time... which I did. She didn't know who I was when I called so I guess everyone is granted one if desired, as you said. Thanks.

Well, What I meant by it being "better" was that, from what I heard from those who interviewed in person and those over the phone, it is a better opportunity to do an in person interview because they tend to spend more time with you, giving you personal tours, etc. It gives you a better opportunity to have your face seen and get a good look at the school. The one student I talked to at the open house said that her personal interview was 3 hours long and she even got to visit a class during her interview. But, you're right, you're not penalized at all for doing phone instead of in person because many people trying to get into Hopkins can't fly out to Baltimore in the middle of the week.

Well, I live in Baltimore so I will be going in person to the interview Thursday. I hope it isn't too late. Seems to me that they would have made up their minds already in most cases seeing that letters are going out next week. Thanks for the background!

How was your interview today?!

For those of you who went to interviews at JHU... any advice? What type of questions did they ask?
