Applied to 4 CRNA schools, any advice or info on any of the schools?

Nursing Students SRNA

Hello everyone,

I've finally gotten all of my qualifications in order to apply to a few CRNA schools in my area. I was wonder ing if anyone had any information on the following schools: U of Scranton, New Britain school of nurse anesthesia, st. raphael school of nurse anesthesia and Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. I'm looking for information such as the interview process, what they are looking for and how the program is? Any other info or detail would be much appreciated.

thank you in advanced

O ok, thx for the insight......so r u in a program or applying as well gwapo?

currently in a program... just started this august.

Great!!! Which school?

Hey Marco. My understanding is that they like 150/150 for verbal/quant. But if you already have an interview boy nail that thing!! Lol. My scores weren't as great as I hoped but over the minimum. That's all I needed bc I called my preliminary scores in and they offered me an interview right then !!!

So I go to my first interview at my number one school choice on the 18th. Freakin 600 bucks for plane and hotel. Have a previous co-worker at the same school who graciously agreed to pick me up And drop me off.

Super excited !!

Hope your interviews go well !!

That's great Marco! How was your interview at St. Raphael's?

I plan on applying next year sometime, good luck on your interview on Monday at NEW bRitain and let me know how the questions are for the interview. I tried to PM you, but I couldn't because I'm new on here.

Hi Mary-Mary, that's OK w/ the PM thing. I won't be able to receive any either, I dont have enough post on here to do so yet. But the st. raphael interview went ok. I was extremely nervous. I had to speak and answer questions from 4 different people. They kind of asked you questions based on what your answers were. If you stuck with meds, they'd pick that up. so try to give answers taht'll sway them to areas you're comfortable in answering. i was at new britain on tuesday and that one went well. i only met with one person at a time and i was less nervous. She asked quite a bit a question. their questions were mostly focused on your background as a nurse. the experiences you had in the different units you worked and what you were exposed to. So i got alot of that kind of question. And the usual "why do you want to be a CRNA" In any case, thanks for checking up on me. I have another interview in scranton next wednesday. I'm hoping for the best. In any case, good luck next year. which places r u thinking of applying to?

Hi missnurse01,

congratulations!!!! that is awesome news. Right now I'm sure you're sound asleep and nervous as hell about the interview later. in any case, I wanted to wish you good luck. I"m sure you will do well. I feel you on that $600 thing. these travel expenses area a pain. I'm heading to PA-scranton school next week and after attempting all options, it seems like taking the 6 hour drive is the most pocket-friendly option. In any case, I'm rooting for you. Let me know how things went.

marc!!!!

Yeah, I wasn't sleeping, lol. I slept for an hour then was awake the rest of the night. It didn't help that the time I had to get up to be ready was 0230 my time! It was awful. I wasn't super nervous I just kept reviewing things in my head and couldn't shut it off to relax. Flying back today, so two 8 hour flights in about 36 hours isn't so fun. sigh.

We had a guy we interviewed with today who is gong up to Scranton tonight and interviewing there in the morning. He said it's about 5-6 hours for him. They gave us a nice presentation before hand and had us pretty relaxed before the interviews. We did 3 separate ones...

Hi missnurse,

that's great news!!!! i'm glad things went well. It sounded like you were super prepared. I bet you made quite the impression. So now i'm guessing you'll have to wait till about thanksgiving time to hear their decision. GOOD LUCK missnurse!!! About the guy you met over there that's also interviewing at scranton. I don't think i'll meet up with him since mine is next wednesday. But that's good for him. If you exchanged info with him, maybe i could get some info on how it went for him and what to expect. In any case, I'll be alright. Well take care for now and keep me updated on how things progress on your end. And i will do the same on my end.

Thankes so much ! I tried to make a good impression which at times was a little difficult as I felt the interviews were a little short ! I didnt feel like I said everything I wanted to.

Good luck w ur interviews as well !! I didn't exchange contact info w the gentleman going to Scranton tomorrow ...sorry! After it was all over I thought I should have done that to see how the others did. I hate to think I am competing for a seat against 4 other applicants !

which school is this you went too missnurse? And thank you for the encouragement.
