Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh, Pay Range

Published

I am just curious what the starting pay is for a new RN in the Appleton, Green Bay, and Oshkosh areas for Labor and Delivery. This would be nice to know so I don't get all the way throught the program, and then realize, I'm not making as much as I hoped.

Thank you!

A little under $22 an hour in this are. Affinity (St. E's and Mercy) were paying the lowest at $19.75 but I have heard that they increased the starting amount to be competitive.

low 20s it starting range for all new grads in any speciality. Of course most hospitals offer shift differentials of some form of an extra couple dollars.

That is really disappointing given the national average. :( I would not mind working for a staffing co. such as PRN though and I know they pay more, I assume I would need some experience of 1-2 years before they would hire me.

Nursing wages in northeast Wisconsin are on the lower end is because there is not a huge nursing shortage. Never really have has a shortage...and most likely never will because plently of ADN and BSN programs...and nursing is one of those traditional jobs in this neck of the woods and hospitals do not really believe in having outsiders come in and help out...they always want their own employees.

Agency nursing in northeast WI is pretty limited too. Only one hospital system uses agency. There is occasional travel nurse assignments...but those are usually hit and miss. And if you are interested in L&D...there is very little agency in that speciality...mostly your M/S, ED, ICU...and most of that you have to head to Milwaukee or Madison.

I hope I am not bursting your bubble...but I have personal experience working/living in the area and trying to break into the travel/agency gig in this part...its a tough nut to crack!
