Hello!
I'm new to the Oklahoma City area, and got a job on the Oncology unit at OU Medical. :) I was just wondering if you guys had any suggestions for decent apartment complexes. Thanks!

What's your price range?
I briefly lived at the Lincoln Greens apartments in north OKC in 2009. It is less than a mile from shopping (Quail Springs Mall, Wal-Mart, etc.) and close to easy freeway access. Back then, they were charging $500+ for 1-bedroom apartments and $600+ for 2-bedrooms.
We also stayed at the Willow Cliff apartments, off NW 50th Street between Meridian and MacArthur, from the fall of '09 to the spring of '10. This area was also close to major shopping along the NW Expressway. We were easily able to get to our clinical rotations at OU Medical Center by taking Interstate 40 eastbound. The 1-bedroom apartments rented for $450 monthly and the 2-bedrooms were $500+.
One bedroom in the 600 dallor range, i'm more than willing to live in the suburbs too. I just want something safe and decent since I'll be living by myself. Thanks for your input!

HI MTSH11,
I used to work at OUMC on the 6th floor, Medicine Specialty! I left and moved to Texas because I wanted to go to grad school here. But I used to live in Moore, OK. It took me about ten minutes to get to OUMC, but then again, I worked nights and traffic was NOT bad.
THE FAIRWAYS are EXCELLENT apartments in Moore. I lived alone as well. You can get a one bedroom, one bath, full size washer and dryer about 700 sq ft for about $580 and a two bedroom, one bath for $625! I know, a STEAL, right? Its gated apartment and maintenance is EXCELLENT & prompt. If I still lived in Oklahoma, I would be at THE FAIRWAYS!

Congrats on the new job! I work at OU Children's Hospital in the same complex.
Living near the hospital is not a good idea if you are looking for safety... I live about 4 miles away in a historic neighborhood and we are surrounded by "zombies" that roam the streets at all hours. I would suggest looking in the Edmond area. That is the closest suburb that is overall a nice community.
Good luck with the move and the new job!

You've probably already found a place, but IMO the best of OKC areas are some parts in NW area, Yukon, Edmond, and some of Moore/Norman.
Def NOT downtown OKC area or MWC/Del City. I like the area east of OKC (I live in Choctaw) Might be too far for you though. We moved out here so our kids would be in a "safe" area. I remember when we were looking for a place after relocating here last year, I thought it was HARD to find a decent place to live. We must of looked at 20+ places. We made the right choice. :)

I agree whole heartedly with this! I have lived in Midwest City since I moved here in 2009. The apartments I lived in when I first got here were just broken into this weekend by a group posing as MWC swat team (saw it on the news).
I would personally recommend Moore, it is a much nicer area!

Then again, I agree that MWC is one of several suburbs to avoid if a person wants to distance oneself from property crimes.
