AP1 & AP2 vs Anatomy and Physiology

Published

i currently attened Antelope Valley College. i have noticed that most schools including College of the Canyons (southern CA) break them up to AP1 and AP2 but my school is Anatomy for a semester and Physiology for the next. why is that? are there any advantages to taking one vs the other. i ask this because now i about done with my pre reqs for RN im taking Anatomy now and plan on taking Phys in the summer to apply and was just curious as to what are the differences.

Specializes in Infusion.

When I took A&P (and we had 3 terms of it), we started out studying tissues and bones and such, then studied the physiology of tissue/bone development, healing, remodeling and such. We did that with each system, spending a day or two talking about the structures and then the next day, learned how the structures worked. By the third term, we were seeing how systems work together to maintain homeostasis.

There are advantages and disadvantages to learning either way.
