Hi! Happy New Year to all!
I am interested in working in Sta. Clara Valley med. Please give me more insights about this hospital. I am interested in working in O.R. How is it in terms of work environment, salary, benefits and hours of work (8 hrs or 12 hrs)? Does this hospital give an overtime pay after 8 hrs of work in a shift? Thanks.

I'm a nursing student, and I don't work at VMC, but my school does all of there clinical hours at VMC. I've have learned a lot I'll tell you that, being a teaching hospital you will see a lot of diffetent things. And being a county hospital you will see a wide range of clintele. I have not gotten the warmest recpetion from the nuses, but I'm a student and I have gotten very few warm recpetions in general.
That being said, I have some interest in working there. I was just on the Santa Clara County web site and got some basic salary, benefit information. From what I've heard and seen VMC pays a little less than most Bay Area hospitals, $2-5.00/hr less, but the benefits/retirement makes up for that.
You can check out the available openings, salary and benefit info at http://www.sccgov.org click on job openings, and search for nursing jobs. I hope this helps.
