There are three SICUs and one CVICU (open heart recovery). One SICU has burns (and other SICU pts), the other two SICUs get pretty much the same pts (left-over hearts, neuro pts, trauma, general surgery) with some exceptions. One gets the heart transplants and the VADs, the other gets pts who have a special surgery involving intraperitoneal chemotherapy. The CVICU (called the CVRR) is for post-op open heart surgery pts in the first 24-48 hours.

Specifically, the MEDSTAR Trauma center at Washington Hospital Center?
I'm hoping to move to DC after graduation and would like to perhaps work there. I really like Trauma but I'm also looking at ICU. I was hoping someone could tell me about MEDSTAR.
It seems like it's separate from the ED, and even has it's own operating rooms?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
