I have been clean and sober for almost two years and am returning to work as a CRNA working with drugs obviously. I feel very strong in my recovery but my addictionist has suggested starting vivitrol monthly injections, which I did. Has anyone had experience with this? I know it's fairly new. Will it help me maintain my sobriety when returning to work? peace8

It might help you, but I wouldn't rely on it. I tried naltrexone pills until they had my vivitrol shot ready. I drank one time while on each of these(seperate occasions) and i noticed it was just another excuse to allow me to give into the thought that i could be a "normal" drinker. I was able to get intoxicated on both drugs. I might have been a little more aware of what was going on, but had I got pulled over, my BAC would surely been too high. I think relying on these meds needs to carefully considered.
It's kind of like drinkin non-alcoholic beer to stay sober....
Thanks for your thoughts. I feel very strong in my recovery with a great sponsor and support system. Don't knw how long my doc will want the vivitrol.

Hi lifeistweet (love it!)
I'm a "retired" CRNA with 15 years of continuous sobriety/clean time (addiction started 20 years ago). I left a private message for you. Glad you made it here! I know several CRNAs in recovery receiving vivitrol and the general consensus is it's well worth the time, effort, and money.
Welcome!!!
