I am taking my prerequisites online at Cayuga. I have taken Psych 101, Dev. Psych, A&P 1 and A&P 2, and now I am completing chemistry (this is my 3rd and final year taking courses at Cayuga). All of the sciences have lab components (A&P had virtual lab; chem you do actually lab experiments at home with lab kit). I will take micro in the fall. So far the most difficult courses were the A&P courses but I think that is because it was so much content (I got B+ in both). I primarily use my laptop although I use desktop once in a while and that is what I recommend because I think some of the software works better that way. High speed internet is a must! There is no "meeting times" for the courses as they are asynchronous but there are deadlines for all "modules" or assignments and work must be completed by then. Online courses are not easy but doable with good time management and you need to be an independent learner. It is also imperative to try and complete required work as early as possible (don't wait until deadline) so that if issues come up, they can be addressed and you still have time to complete necessary assignments. Good luck!
Yes textbooks are required like in person courses. In chem we had to purchase lab kit in addition to books for the labs. Exams are not proctored but timed so while technically you can look up answers the strict time makes it difficult so you still need to understand material. In A&P there was something where you could not open up Web browser while testing. In psych there wasn't really any test just discussion posts and papers
