the reading portion of the hesi is the same as the study guide. i recommend memorizing all of the vocab in the book- use flash cards. memorize the section in the math part of the book that says stuff you should know/memorize. you need to know that.
know how to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions.
know how to do proportion equations for example 24:3::45:?
here is great study tool i just made up when i took the hesi (i got a 100 on the math)
sing it to the tune of how much is that doggie in the window
1 gallon is 4 quarts in my refridgerator
1 gallon is 128 ounces
1 quart is 2 pints and 1 pint is 2 cups
1 cup is 8 ounces
i used that on the test on at least 2 questions - it was awesome!
you will also need to memorize 1 g = ? mg and 1 kilometer =? m liters, ml, etc.
all of those conversions - which i also recommend flashcarding
the vocab part of the test had about 3/4 of the vocab from the vocab chapter... the rest of the vocab came from a&p like if your arm is away from your heart is this distal, posterior, etc..... memorize the body quadrants - like distal and proximal
they also through a couple of bio terms in there like osmosis. even though we werent tested on a&p and sciences. so i recommend skimming through those chapters even if they say you wont take the test - it might be relevant on the vocab.
oh - know how to calculate pounds to kilograms.... for example - your patient was 23 pounds - what is that in kilograms? simply multiply the pounds by 2.2
so 23 x 2.2= easy enough - just remember the formula
also know how to convert from f to c and vice versa.... memorize the formula- it will be on the test and they dont provide the formula.
that is all i can think of - if you need any help feel free to send me a message!
