Anyone still hiring RNs in Cincy Dayton ?

Published

Specially new grads? I am a new ASN grad but not entirely without medical experience either, but most of it in overseas hospitals.

Also since I have yet to get a interview call, was wondering what is asked in interviews of new RNs and what can we do to prep for these precious few interviews?

Please any feed back would be helpful as I haven't worked 'state-side' for over a decade!!

Appears to be a hiring freeze right now

The Health Alliance, Mercy system, and Tri Health all have a ton of listings for RNs in the Cincy area. Mercy and Tri Health are opening new facilities on the west side of town in 2010. The West Chester Med Center is still filling RN positions - it's Health Alliance. Granted I haven't looked through all of them (I haven't graduated yet) but not all of them require experience. Be prepared to wait at least 4 weeks for a response, though. A friend just got an LPN position at the VA hospital. You just have to be persistant :)

Good luck!

Thanks! That sounds more promising than anything i have heard recently. Never thought of the VA. What are their licensure requirements , anything different from the regular OH license?

You're very welcomed! I won't graduate until Jan 2010 but I've been trying to keep an eye on the job situation - glad I could help.

I'll have to ask him about the licensure requirements...but I do know he has his LPN license in OH and that's it. I'm assuming a valid OH license would be acceptable. He plans to go back to school for his RN but hasn't started yet. He told me the orientation process is close to 3 months! But hey, it doesn't really matter because it's all paid and it's a government job :wink2:

Good Sam hires new grads. I peeked at a few openings while I was searching for PCA jobs and several had "new grads accepted" in the postings.

Children's likes new grads, I discovered. I'm in the process of getting a PCA job there. When I told the HR recruiter I was starting clinicals in September, her face lit up. They have a great new grad orientation program, too. I believe it's 6 weeks? Don't quote me on that, though.
