Anyone starting Ivy Tech ASN pre-reqs this Fall ('14)?

Published

I'm completely registered for my first semester pre-reqs and was wondering if there was any other Ivy Tech'ers out there.

My schedule is:

  • Eng 111 (@Shelbyville Intelliplex)
  • IVYT 101 (online)
  • Math 080/123 (@Lawrence)
  • Psych 101 (online)

13 credits

There definitely are. I'm starting the LPN program at Ivy Tech this fall. I completed my prereqs at a different university and my decision to apply to the program was very last minute. Be sure to ace those A&P classes, as they will weigh heavily when applying to the nursing program. Good luck!

I'm starting the ASN program in August at Anderson. Are math 080/123 the same thing? I thought any 0 level math class was remedial and you got no credit where a 100 level class was a college level class and you got credit for it. I would double check on that. I know they are redoing the math dept. but I would still check on the difference in 0 level as opposed to 100 level classes.

I tested into Math 080 and the minimum req for the ASN is Math 123. 080 and 123 are taken together as co-reqs (but only if you tested into 080, like I did). So basically I have to take both classes at the same time this semester... which is 3.5 hrs total twice a week combined (Tues and Thurs). I was recommended to take A&P 101 next sem because of all the math this sem. :) But I still have Psych and Eng that I am taking this sem that carry point weight in getting accepted into the program. Yikes.

My Psych class was not really hard. I took it in person and had a great professor. English 111 depends on the teacher honestly. It is a lot of writing. A lot. It took up a lot of time. And if you have 2 math classes, it would be a lot. Make sure you get A's in English and Psych. I took 111 last fall along with A&P II, micro, and math 023, and the ivyt 101. It was hard work!!! This past semester I did soc, psych, advanced physiology, and math 035. This summer I am doing math 136. Fall semester was my hardest. Also, if you ever plan on transferring to a 4 year college to get your BSN, know the only way the A&P will transfer is if you take 101,102, and 201. Most people don't realize that.
