Anyone know of schools that offer work?

Published

As a long time lurker of allnurses. I figured someone here just might know! an hour of google got me no where.

Last year my father ran into an old friend down in Missouri. He said his daughter was enrolled in a two year RN program that placed students in part time jobs related to nursing. My father thought it was brilliant since we now spend most of our time in Canada and there are not those kinds of opportunities here. In fact I have never heard of such a school.

Has anyone heard of schools like these? Or is this one of those things that is just to good to be true?

Thanks!

The school I'm in here in TX doesn't really place students in PT positions but after the first semester we are qualified to be nursing assistants and most of the hospitals we do our clinicals at will hire us during the summers or PRN (as needed) after our first semester. I'm only in my first semester now and, frankly, I can't imagine working on top of the school work but one shift a week may be possible...maybe.

They must've been referring to College of the Ozarks. It's been around for years and I can't imagine with the economy as it is that more schools are offering something like it.

Thanks for the info! I live in Canada, and the economy of the U.S does concern me... I feel since I haven't lived there since the recession I will be jumping in way over my head and leaving a good job. I will check out college of the Ozarks! Thanks again!
