Hi everyone,
Just wanted to see if anyone has any advice or experience with practicing in Hawaii. I currently live in California and take boards next spring and wanting to get everything in place as I intend in moving to Hawaii and practicing there.
I am of Hawaiian decent and am aware of the cultural difference between the mainland and Hawaii, the cost of living and all of that. More looking to figure out what has to be done to practice there and be properly licensed. I appreciate any advice in advance,
Mahalo nui!

Their requirements are straightforward. You need to endorse your CA RN license to HI. You may have to wait until you pass the NP boards and get the RN endorsement prior to applying for APRN license in HI. My suggestion is to endorse the RN now, that way when you pass the national NP boards, you can apply directly for NP license in HI. We had an AGACNP student here in California who endorsed her license there and worked in Oahu for a few years. She is back here in CA now.
Thanks so much for the reply! Im looking into the RN endorsement for HI. Kinda having trouble as I see some people say you have to have a job there to endorse you, and some say you dont... Would you happen to know? I put a call and e mail into the BRN for HI, but nothing yet so just trying to figure out. Thanks again,
Ka
That's not typical of state Boards of Nursing to require a job already lined up in the state you are trying to endorse a license to. The application for HI RN endorsement does not mention that requirement.
