i go to humber and i read on the academic calendar that there is an "intersession" in year two. does anyone know what this is?? it occurs from end of april to the end of may. i have a really good govt. job lined up for the summer which starts may 1- end of august and quite honestly can't miss out on the money. so what exactly goes on during this time and would it cause me to miss out on the summer job?????

In the US it is a session of college classes between semesters, after Xmas and New Years but before the next semester. It is usually 2-3 weeks and severals hours every day. I know one time it started after the first semester ended before the holidays, and finished up after the holidays but before the next semester. Usually only time for one class.

Have you checked your student handbook? and course outlines?
I think you can expect that the intersession requires mandatory attendance. Also, is your school affected by the the faculty strike? If so, the school year may be extended to make up student's lost hours. It's possible you may be in school past the end of May. Suggest you contact your summer employer and find out if the start date is flexible.
