Anyone Here Have Young Kids?

Nursing Students General Students

I really want to become a nurse but am wondering if it is even possible right now in my life. I have three kids ages 5,3, and 7 months. My husband works from 7 am to 8 pm and i dont have much family help.

Is this possible? DOes anyone else have kids and how are things going for you?

Thanks,

Cheryl

It just depends on your family, and how much you're willing to sacrifice for school.

I have two boys - ages 6 and 3. Up until last summer, I worked full-time and took all my pre-reqs at night or online (took me 6 years doing it that way). I just quit my job to go to nursing school, and will be starting semester 3 of 6 on January 10. On top of all that, my husband lives on the other side of the state (due to his job) and my school is a 70 mile commute one way.

Of course - my kids have been in daycare all along, and I'm not away from home that many more hours than when I was working fulltime. That's not to say that it's not stressful - I do miss out on some things I'd prefer not to... but I'm making this short term sacrifice for the long term good of our family. I must work - being a stay at home mom was never an option for me - so I figure if I'm going to have to work, I may as well get educated and be able to make a decent living, doing something that I will hopefully enjoy. :)

Good luck! :)
