I work across the street from Harris SW . We send the majority of our ER patients there . I have had no problems with going there as a patient or sending patients. But I have never worked there. Have you already graduated? I am the one going to TSU in the fall, going to orientation 7/15. It's going to be a long years....Oh and Harris SW is on Oakmont, Cityview/Hulen area. Good luck to you...
I am graduating next May, I just finished up the OB/Psych semester. I am trying to figure out where I want to work b4 I graduate, so maybe I can start working there now (on the weekends). I really like the neighborhood, but it will probably be A LONG TIME before I could afford any of those houses!! It seems to be a really nice area though! Have fun at orientation..honestly I don't think I went to mine so I can't even tell you how it was! You'll enjoy the program, we are really a close group..some of my classmates have turned out to be my best friends..we can relate to each other when our "non nursing" friends can't! You'll love it--when you're not stressing or studying!

I did my very first clinical rotations there on M/S.
It is a nice place. The people there really seem to care....it is not just a job to them. It is a smaller hospital.
I put it on my list of places I would like to precept at.
Good luck!

Harris SW and NW seem to have low turnover, but the location prohibits your movement into better opportunities as your tenure increases. That is unless you live closer to the city. There are great opportunities at the Lonestar Health Hospitals (HCA). These are financially secure facilities and encourage promotion from within. Locations are in and around the Metroplex.

Texas Health Resources is a great hospital system to work for, they pay their nurses well and they have a great reputation in town. I actually work as an extern for Baylor and am currently in the ICU at Baylor Cityview across the street from Harris SW. Harris has an extern program that would be a great experience for you until to graduate to see if you like it there. Cityview (Hulen) is a nice area as well. I've lived in Fort Worth my whole life and I can remember when that whole area was nothing but a big ole field!! Good luck!
