Members are discussing their experiences with taking prerequisite courses through Portage Learning, including the structure of the courses, the difficulty level, and the transferability of credits to nursing programs. Some users found the courses to be manageable and helpful, while others had concerns about the quality of education and the mismatch between study materials and exams. There is also discussion about the format of exams, the time required to complete courses, and the importance of checking with nursing schools for credit acceptance.
I am hoping to be accepted to an accelerated nursing program in either Fall 2016 or January 2017 (the nursing program has three start times per year). I have about six classes of pre-reqs that weren't able to transfer from my prior undergrad work. All but two of them can be taken through Portage learning, according to the adviser at the school who I spoke with.
However, I am apprehensive because as good as it sounds (all online! no books! cheaper than the local community college!) I have never taken an online, or even hybrid, course before. They weren't A Thing when I was in school 10 years ago. I am fairly good at keeping myself on track and can keep deadlines and things, but I'm still nervous.
If you used Portage, were you pleased with the results? How often did you get to speak with an actual instructor and would they be people you could possibly get an academic reference from?
Abisola Alabi said:I would not recommend portage app for a y students to complement your prerequisite. Majority of their classes are self paced which is good for me though. But the problem you are gonna encounter is if you have access to other document from their module exams and labs through Quizlet and studio. Their lecture especially (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAMES - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES/IDENTIFYING INFORMATION OF INDIVIDUALS IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS) don't like their student to pass. They will give you plagiarism and academic violation for paying for extra documents not provided by portage because they want to fail and come back to pay for repeat classes. This is not fair for honest and diligent students that goes outside the resources to pass
They don't want you to have access to other document that can aid your learning. My experience was bittersweet and awful with (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES/IDENTIFYING INFORMATION OF INDIVIDUALS IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS). Tha anatomy 1 instructor and (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES/IDENTIFYING INFORMATION OF INDIVIDUALS IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS) who is 🚫 t their to look out for your interest if you have issues. Be warned learn from my mistakes. And once you have completed module 1 exam with them they don't won't issue a redun if you dpnt lime the quality of treatment they five to you.
you are correct
Horrible
You would get higher grade & learn more if you take courses in community college
you will not learn anything at portage , they design question as if they want students to fail
there is no teaching , only copying same information from lecture note reply to you if you ask questions, it is truly disaster if you take course at portage
