Well, I went to the job fair today. Each hospital within UPMC had it's own table. I went to the Magee table and I was told they were only looking for experienced nurses. Then I went to the Presby table and I was told that they're always looking for new grads, but only those who are graduating in December right now; I was told I've started looking too early (hey- I"m ready to jump!). Then I went to the Graduate Nurse Table and the woman I spoke to said since I'm graduating in May, the best time to apply would be in early spring. She said there were a lot of openings, especially at McKeesport, but the job postings ebb and flow. She mentioned that UPMC East would be opening up in a year and there would be a lot of openings for that. I was also told that GNs are to apply for 'Staff Nurse' positions. "Professional Staff Nurse" are for those who have experience already. So I was there for only. . .5 minutes max? So from now until Spring, I'm just going to beef up my resume some more.

If someone goes, could you please fill me in on the opportunities you saw? I live out of town, and cannot make it. I would love to know if they had anything for new grads and what the RN openings looked like in general? Any particular growth area or hospital hiring more than others?
Thanks so much!
