Anyone going to LCCTC in January or have been there for Practical Nursing?

I start in January for the day shift program. My orientation/interview is next week on Tuesday. Will anyone else be there? I met a lot of great people at the TEAS testing today! Anyone that has already been there, I also would like to hear what you think about the program and if you would recommend it. Thanks :)

I graduated from that program. I think it's a great program. Their goal is to graduate nurses. That might sound odd, but that does not seem to be the goal of every practical nursing program. Some programs seem much more focused on "weeding out" than teaching students and allowing them to learn from their mistakes. If LCCTC accepts you, they will work with you to see to it that you graduate, pass the NCLEX and get a job after graduation.

This is why I think the program is superior to some of the others in Central PA:

1 - If you need help, it's there. There is a resource center devoted to helping students with areas of difficulty. Help is just an appointment away.

2 - They won't let anyone fail because of math. You MUST learn to do the required math perfectly in order to graduate. If you don't get it at first, the school will work with you until you do.

3 - The instructors are very approachable, and very invested in turning out good nurses.

4 - Sometimes students don't pass a unit. If that's the case, they are allowed to repeat. No shame. No disrespect. No drama. No problem. If you didn't understand it last trimester, get back on the horse and try again.

I'm proud to be an LCCTC graduate. I think you will be too. Good luck with everything. It will be over before you know it.

I agree. I am currently attending the evening program and hate to see the bashing of the program. They have FREE tutoring, so much clinical experience, and I like how they stress the excitement and privilege it is to have the opportunity to become a nurse!

I just wanted to follow up on this thread with anyone looking for more knowledge on the program. I graduated the full time day shift program in April of 2015. Wow! What an amazing experience that I had there! While most days I was so stressed out that I wanted to cry, I formed some lifelong friendships and gained close rapport with my instructors. Most instructors were more than willing to help and stay after class if needed. I recommend this program to all!
