I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the program at Harford Community College in Bel Air. I applied there and have a few questions.

Not sure if you're still looking for help about HCC, but I am a current student there right now. Feel free to ask me anything! :)

:) Well, first off, congratulations on your acceptance! The nursing program at HCC is very competitive, only about 40 students out of 400 applicants get in. I am not in the program right now, as I am planning to transfer out of Harford next year. I have been completing pre-req's, and only have micro left now. I've been at it since 9/03, and am just ready to get out of here, and get my BSN. Harford is a good school, in small doses. Now I am to the point that everything about this place is frustrating me to no end. It's very difficult to get a straight answer out of anyone here, the advisors have steered me in the complete wrong direction, preventing me from being able to transfer sooner. I currently have a 3.61 GPA, have been told it MAY not be strong enough to get in, blah blah blah. The NCLEX passing rate is falling more and more each year. There have been several problems with finding and keeping good professors and faculty members. I don't mean to seem negative, just please understand my frustrations! I have been here for three years now..Things have been stacking up for me over time, being that you're in the program already, I doubt you'll have the issues that many of us have endured!

Have you already completed all the core science classes and humanities electives? If not, let me know what you're interested in taking and I'll do my best to offer some advice! HCC does have some really great individuals on faculty, you just have to find them! :)

I'm sorry to hear that you had so many problems there. I hope I don't run into a lot of the same thing. Where are you planning to transfer to?

I do have all of the prereqs done. I didn't want to contend with those while I was in nursing school. I am a little worried that the NCLEX passing rate has decreased. I know someone who went through the program and passed the NCLEX so I will get her advice on how to do it.

Thanks for all of your help.
