Hi!:nurse:

I am a l & d rn with four years experience. Our hospital is putting together a l & d transport team-I got aksed to be on it. Sound exciting, but is there anyone out there who is familiar with this program? How is the pay for you guys per transport? I would be on call 24 hrs and will be paid 350.00 per transport. Thanks you all for your input!!:)

Our transport teams (both maternal and neonatal) were comprised of nurses with at least 2 years current experience who applied and successfully completed an in-house education program followed by a minimum number of transports accompanied by experienced tranport team members.

Each shift, nurses were assigned as 1st, 2nd and 3rd transport, and went out if calls were received during the shift. Any call lasting beyond the nurse's scheduled shift was paid as OT. Our team members were never on call from home because so many of us lived at quite a distance from the hospital.

The first transport nurse did not have a patient assignment. She floated around the unit and assisted as needed. The 2nd and 3rd nurses had assignments that were re-distributed if they went out.

Sounds like a cool job. I have done transports by ambulance a number of times. We now have a team with paramedics and ED nurse first responders, so we do not go as often as we once did. I do enjoy transports.
