Hello All,
Just wondering if anyone has experience working for a durable medical equipment / home care supplies company. If so, what did you enjoy about your job? What did you dislike?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
Best regards,
Amanda

Some of my best friends work for my company's DME department. THings they like: it is pretty laid back and they have a lot of flexibility in their hours. They also do not interact directly with the pt's, just over the phone. Things they don't like: the general public does not understand what it means to need an MD order for something. They think if their doc told them this morning they need a CPAP, they should be able to call up and order one. They also dislike having to tell medicaid p's that they don't get any more briefs, or straight caths, or whatever because they reached their monthly limit. I know they sometimes have frustrating talks with nurses. I have even been guilty of this myself. I call up and can describe the dressing I need, but forgot the name. But I think working with clinicians and even pts can be a really rewarding part of the job. One of my friends sets up all the travel O2 accounts, and so she helps people make sure their oxygen needs are met so they can go on vacations. She has known many of her clients for years now.
Thanks so much for your response ErinS! I really appreciate it!
