Hello everybody,

Thank you.

Are you talking about the NACE exam?

No, I'm talking about the National League for Nursing Pre - admission Exam (NLN PAX For LPN). I have done my perquisites courses. Now, I'm planning to take the entrance exam.

Hi. I took the test and passed it. There are 80 verbal, 54 math, and 80 science questions. You have 60 minutes to do each section. The verbal consists of vocabulary and reading comprehension. The math section is basic algebra and geometry, but it is VERY heavy on fraction, decimal, and percentage questions. The science consists of chemistry, physics, physical science, and biology questions. A lot of it was chemistry, physics, and physical science. There were some anatomy questions thrown in there too, but not many.

What else? Oh. No calculators.

There is a study book to prepare for the test. I bought it, but it literally sat on the floor until after test day. I didn't find the test too difficult. The only part that made me go:no: was the science section, but that's because that's my weak area.

Hmm. Make sure you get adequate rest the night before, and don't stress out.

I wish you the best.

*I posted this in a another thread, so I just copied and pasted it. The book I mentioned is http://www.amazon.com/Review-Guide-Pre-Entrance-Exam-Edition/dp/0763762709/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376834258&sr=8-1&keywords=nln+pax+lpn. The questions in the book are very similar to the ones on the test.

Use the book that Strawberry_Essence81 suggested. Everything you need to know is in that book.

I studied that book from cover to cover and passed; and was accepted in my PN program.

....even without calculators. ;)

Thank you so much ladies. I did buy the book, but one of my friend told me that book only covered basic stuff only. In science section, there was a lot of questions from physics and chemistry subjects. How do I prepare chemistry and physics section? Also, I was looking this book online http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1610724860/ref=redir_mdp_mobile.

I don't know if it would be great help or not. My weakness is Vocabulary and science part. I have to have at least 75 percentile in the exam to get accepted not less than that.

When I took the exam, the book had EVERYTHING in there.

If you think you need another source, then get that book in addition to the NLN exam book. If anything, it would help.

Thank you for the reply. When did you take the NLN exam?

I took the PN exam over five years ago; I took the RN exam about 3 years ago.

When taking placement exams; I usually got the books specifically for the exams; the requirements were above 70% for my PN school; for RN I got above 90%.

When preparing for standardized tests, using sources that are similar to the exams I found are best to ensure success on the exam, at least for me

If you purchase both, study both from cover to cover separately; each may have different approaches and strategies that may be beneficial for your success.

Yes, you are right. I will try my best. Again the questions aren't going to be same.. How do I improve my vocabulary? Is there any strategy? plus sometimes in reading comprehension passages are tough for me and I get confuse with the answers.Even though my GPA is 4.0 over all. I don't know. How to study for this exam?. Thanks
