Hi everyone! I have been accepted into Blinn's ADN program for the fall semester. I am sooo excited! I was just curious if anyone here has been through this program and if so can give some helpful information/advice?! I have completed everything required to begin except the CPR class which I will take this Saturday. I know I should take it easy my last summer but I am eagerly anticipating the first day!
Thanks for all the help!
Hi Heather, I just got accepted for ADN spring 2011 and I wanted to get some insight from you about how your first semester was???? I am excited but nervous to start!! How were classes? Schedule? Financial aid? Any advice for me?? I currently live in Houston, so I will be making the move to Bryan/CS...and I know it will be a huge change to go through. Thanks in advance!
Hi txplh2. No, I have not received my schedule yet but I was informed by the ADN office that they would be registering us for classes by tomorrow Tuesday the 11th, and that payment would be due Friday at orientation. I will see you all Friday! I'm super excited to finally start!:yelclap:
Wow sorry I've been MIA!
TEAS - I bought a Kaplan study guide for nursing entrance exams (it's supposed to help study for all). I made a 96.7% in that section. The book was definitely helpful because it went over things that I needed to brush up on such as some algebra and conversions.
New Blinn students - Congrats on getting in! I was ecstatic when I received my acceptance letter. Since it's Friday, I'm sure you've already had your orientation. At our orientation, semester 4 students were there and they were so helpful. Everyone experiences the first semester a little differently. I personally really excelled on the written tests while some struggled a bit. Most professors give "blue prints" which are essentially study guides that are really helpful. We're not supposed to list names on here so I can't give you a run down of each professor unless you want to message me. Expect to be confused at all times but don't worry because you'll make it through. Check-offs can be frustrating because each professor grades differently so who grades you really does determine how high your grade can potentially be. The end of the semester is really stressful, especially simulation, but no one has ever failed simulation. I actually ended up with a 3.7 so even though it was stressful and confusing at times, it all turned out okay in the end. My class passed around sheets in lab and everyone wrote down their names, numbers, and emails and then we made copies and handed it out to everyone. I HIGHLY recommend doing that! Good luck and let me know if I can help yall out at all.
Heatherxnicole - Thanks for the info! I am actually attending the informational session for the LVN track next week and will also attend one for the RN/ADN. I will take whatever I can get! I will definitely look for the Kaplan TEAS study guide - thanks for the heads up on that!
Good luck to all of you who got in!
oh blinn, blinn, blinn!!! i'm currently in my third semester of nursing school. first semester is kind of a shock. had a 4.0 gpa going into the program and now i am happy with b's. it is a tough program, but it is very competitive so congrats if you get in!! :) i would recommend getting a teas study guide. it is kind of similar to an sat, but the essay portion is nursing related. the first thing they look at is your gpa and then your teas score. many of the teachers are very unorganized, but you will just have to learn to live with it. you won't find out your schedule for the semester until orientation so if you have a job, just let them know they will have to be flexible with you. i don't recommend taking anatomy your first semester either. you are already taking many classes and anatomy is tough. good luck to everyone applying! if you have any more questions, feel free to ask :)

For the fall 43 were accepted I believe about 200 applied. I came from A&M so my GPA wasn't excessively high but since it's Blinn, I think they can appreciate a bachelor of science from the university down the street. However, I was in the 99th percentile nationwide for the TEAS and I memorized my 2-page essay the night before that I know was solid.
