Anyone else worried about CSU Budget Cuts for Spring 2013?

Published

Hello and help! I was wondering how many of you are in the same boat or a similar boat as I am:

I currently have my BA in a major that is not nursing, 3 years out, tried the whole trying-to-get-a-teaching credential thing which was dumb because there are soooo many in California that can't find a teaching job... but realized through an odd way of life events that nursing is what I love and must do.

HOWEVER... I cannot decide what I should get: my ADN and then take an RN to BSN bridge program or go for my accelerated BSN? Money will be a factor no matter what, loans will be an issue because I already have a BA... the things I am worried about and have been wracking my brain (and I am sure all within ear shot of me) are what to do about the Spring 2013 budget cuts that will affect the whole timeline I have been trying to put together and that will surely affect admission rates for Fall 2013.

If California is one of the states that has been starting to require that all nurses have a BSN- how can I get into a program with all of the budget cuts? Am I better off moving to another state and paying out-of-state tution? I bet I will finish everything faster. Or am I better off going the community college route and paying less and maybe not being able to land a job in California?

With where I am in my pre-reqs, I should be able to finish everything this Fall (2012), which allows me to apply for Fall 2013 programs.

I know that there are loop-holes for every situation and person but I have to remember that those are the expections... not the rule. I want to play it safe but I am terrified of not being able to make a sound decision due to the mess what this whole economic recession has brought.

I, fortunately, do not have to worry about moving a family where ever I decide to go or whatever I decide to do. I am up for anything and everything.

Someone, please advise!

Gah... I need a nice, relaxing bubble bath!
