Anyone else feel like they work with....

a bunch of monkeys like the tv commercial?

Just a small rant, really.

The day secretary informed CT of MD order for "CT guided drainage of abcessed diverticulitis"... sounds right to me.

CT didn't bother to tell her, and I didn't know either, that such a thing would be done by Interventional Radiology. But when nothing had been done by 4:30pm when I hit the floor after a crappy staff meeting, we called CT to ask for a general idea of the time. "Oh, didn't someone call you, that's done at IR."

IR now gone for the day, patient languishing in pain, surgery to be held off until Friday just for lack of a phone call.

GRRRRR!!! :angryfire

Thanks for reading!

I can certainly understand the frustration! I'm wondering why pain medication isn't working or isn't possible for this patient?

Pain medication is possible, but doesn't cure the pain, it is never down to a zero for her. Also she has several allergies to meds and the best choice for pain relief causes some nausea plus vomitting occasionally doesn't help either. So then you add anti-emetics and she becomes sleepy for hours.

All could have been decreased if the drainage was done when ordered and surgery could have been scheduled.

does the phrase come to mind....SITUATION NORMAL, ALL FOULED UP

please note it used the word fouled

Definitely a SNAFU, not enough people involved to call it a CLUSTER DUCK!
