Hi, I was just curious to see who else was applying for charity school of nursing fall 2014. My profile score is currently a 60. it would be higher if I had a&p 2 finish but im not taking that class until after I turn in my application. I made an 80 on my hesi, but im going to retake it right before I turn in my app to try and get a higher score to replace the profile points I'm missing for not having a&p 2 done yet.
Hey all! I'm just finishing my first semester at Charity. Don't freak out about the negative things everyone tells you. It is not as insanely difficult and stressful as people make it to be. Just pay attention in class and study. Also, Pharm 1 offered online is the same thing as if you were in class. You will have to take your tests at school though. Start saving money now for all of the things you will need to purchase before school starts (books, uniforms, shoes, Parking, etc.) If y'all have any questions feel free to ask. I'll try to check the page more often. Best of Luck!!!
@metry What was your study method? I read a nursing thread that suggest to study the material only covered in class and it's not necessary to read all the hundreds of pages of reading assignments. What study system worked for you? Because i don't think charity is like other nursing schools.
I have notebooks from dollar tree for both classes. I write down the topics for each test and write as much as I can remember. Then I check them against my notes and I keep doing this until I'm confident that I understand the information. The tests for nursing are made up from a combination of all of your teachers and it is cognitive. You have to understand the concept and you will do fine. Listen to the lectures on Tegrity the same night or next day and also do the practice quizzes in the back of each chapter. Just go with your gut and don't change your answers. For Pharmacology, the teacher gives you exactly what you need to know. She is not at all tricky, just keep practicing until you are confident, but pace yourself. It is a lot of information to take in and deal with clinicals at the same time. Anything less than a 78 is failing, and I have not had a problem with this and my study habit. For techniques, I highly recommend a practice group and going to the level tutor. She is wonderful! Don't forget to stock up on ink and paper or use the library at school (you automatically have money put on your card from tuition) to print all of your lectures before class. I brought my laptop to school and typed my notes in. Sorry for all the info. It's a lot of stuff, but find out what works for you and don't freak out. They give you all of the information you need to know.
We all bought the required materials in the bundle. It costs about 741 and you will always be able to access and get updates for each book. The positive side is not having to research for the books and always having them at hand. The negative is that I didn't really use them as much as I thought I needed to for the first semester. But, the pharmacology is a great resource for medication administration dosages and preparation (which you will need to continually know throughout school) and the nursing books do help when writing care plans. Normally, I rent from chegg, but I didn't know which books we needed and wanted to get them out of the way.
