Anyone here CLEP College Algebra?

Published

I am planning on trying to CLEP through Algebra this semester...I got an A in Intermediate Algebra (last summer) so I was wondering if I just got out my book and studied, if I would be able to pull this off.

Any study suggestions?

Thanks

Cheri

I CLEP'd Algebra about two years ago. I don't know how often they update the tests. You might want to look for a book or an online source that will give you a review, just so you know what you are in for. Maybe you can find someting on http://www.google.com.

Most of the questions were what I remember algebra was like in high school (in the dark ages). I CLEP'd because my algebra class was more than 5 years old, and when I enrolled in it in the CC, I discovered it was all about unusual (to me) graphs and recognizing which graph shape represented which sort of equation.

Personally, I thought that was stupid to require of a nursing student. Besides, I didn't quite get it. :p

If you can do "word problems," and use variables, you should be OK.

Good luck! (Oh, passing was something like in the 60's and I scored about 15 pts above that, so I was OK. I'd've done better if I had skipped the ones I could not go and went on to finish the questions. Before you use that strategy, however, double check and make sure you can come back to the questions you skipped. If not, my method might not be a good idea!)
