So I got into ccsf for spring 2011. I was wondering if anyone can tell me more about this school? How are the classes, instructors, clinicals? Where do you do your clinicals? Can you tell me more about the exams? Is this a good school to graduate from? I know our economy is at a freeze right now and so are the hiring for any jobs, but is it easy to find a job once you graduate from this program? How do you compare ccsf from Merritt college in Oakland? I would really appreaciate it if someone can give me some info! Thanks!
Well I'm a graduated from CCSF 12/2010. I had the longest commute in their history. From Tracy to SF every day in Traffic. I have 2 school aged kids and a needy husband, I also worked part time... very part time. It is hard, I'm not going to LIE!!
but you can do it. If I can pas,s ANYONE can!!! Determination!!! :heartbeat My hardest classes were for me, PHARM!!! I almost failed I got a 61% on a exam and had to bounce back, it was hard but I did it. Med Surg was hard too. I got a C, and Pharm too. the rest of my classes were all very hard but not as stressful. We lost people the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd semester. Especially from psych and med math. YOU HAVE to HAVE a 80% on your math or else your kicked out.
So get your math down. I went to Merritt in Oakland for a little bit before CCSF and dropped. HORRIBLE experience, the worst ever. That is not what nursing school should be like. I was so unhappy there. CCSF is so much better!!! the staff cares about you and, will show you support. I graduated, pass NCLEX and got a job.
Out of my class I think 5 of us got RN jobs. I did not get a preceptorship either, but I worked my *** off to find a RN position. Cold calling HR departments and Walk INS got me 3 job offers, so there are jobs out there.
Good Luck, if your really want it you can do it.
Hello fellow nursing students of ccsf. I am starting in spring of 12. Currently I have been a pharm tech for 5 years and I was wondering what to review or prepare for in pharmacology. Do you think its as rigorous as a general pharmacology class, which would provide information about pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, interactions, prescribing, toxicology etc. Also I am relatively good at math, I have taken up to statistics and did well. I am good at conversions, but wanted to know more specifically what to prepare for. I have the Nursing fundamentals book and have been reading the first ch's given out at orientation. Do any of you, use the studyguide that can be purchase with this book? How are lecture notes given? Are we given any sort of handout for each lecture? I am just really anxious to start and I still have 2 months to go! So, in addition to spending as much time with family, friends and work before school starts I would like to start some of my own studying to get back in the mode. Any answers to my?'s, advice, tips, etc. would be helpful. Thank you, lot's of luck to all fellow nursing students. :):heartbeat

I am in the lottery for 2011 Fall at City College of San Francisco. However, according to the application process, we will receive letters of admission anytime between last month and mid-May. I guess this is the best I can hope for right now, just getting into the lottery means it is entirely up to chance. It's too bad they are doing only one lottery a year for spring and fall. If we don't make it in for fall or spring, we have to wait another year. Anyone else in the lotto?
