Hi I'm new and I'm taking pre-nursing classes to get into the RN program. I'm currently attending DBCC but I will be going to PBCC in west palm beach in 09 after I get married. I have only 3 more classes that I need for DBCC's RN program but I have to take them one semester at a time because all I have left at science classes and a humanitles class. I have looked on the web site to see what pre-classes I need for PBCC but it has chem listed in the nursing section but when I go down to the pre-courses it is not there, I'm confused on if I need that class or not. If any is going to PBCC it would be a great help to know what classes I will need in addition to the ones I have already taken for the RN program.

I'll try to help. I just did the information session there a few weeks ago.
I'm actually doing my prereqs there this Fall and Spring, shooting for a Fall 2008 start date.
They just changed the chemsitry requirement for this term's admissions. They used to allow high school chem or college, now they have removed the high school option. You have to take CHM1020, 1025, or 1045 as a prereq to apply.
3 Prereqs: AP I, Chm, and Human Growth and Dev. You can't get in with just that most likely because there's an additional 11 points for co-req classes, but technically it's all that is required.
Looking at your program, you won't need these at PBCC:
ENC1102 - English Comp 2
SPC2600 - Speech
MAC1105 - College Algebra
You'll need the comp and math down the road if you decide to go RN-BSN at FAU like I am.
The classes PBCC has that DBCC doesn't that you'll need to take:
SYG2000 - Sociology
HUN1201 - Nutrition
CHM1020 - Basic Chem
DEP2004 - Human Growth and Dev (This one is tricky, the course is currently named NUR2130, but they are changing the name next semester)
Thanks what is the easiest chem class to take if there is such a thing? I have never taken chem before.I'm currently taking microbiology and I have to take A&P I and II, also a humanities class for DBCC, but I was planning to knock out as many classes for PBCC as I could before I move there. Thanks for your help:)
This a real big help thanks! I have taken sociology but I took a different nutrion class called human nutrion and diet therpy so I don't know if PBCC will except that. I have no plans to get my BSN I just want to be a floor nurse and not get into managemanet but kudos that want to go the distance! I don't college algabra so I'm glad I don't need it. I need to take chem and human growth and dev. I will take to a counselar when the time is closer for me to move there. Thanks again.
CHM1020 is easiest. It doesn't require a lab.
Then that is going to be the chem that I take. I hate labs so much!
