I am currently attending Jefferson in the nursing program. The faculty have been very helpful so far. There are several EHS to RN students in my specialty classes. I hope to graduate in May but I'm struggling in my Adult Health II class so that would put me a full year later graduating if I fail it. Are you from this area, if not how did you end at at JCHS? I have a classmate from California that goes home frequently to work. How was your time at JCHS? The college has went through alot a changes just since I started in Fall 2004, alot of programs have been added and they are renovating Community Hospital to be used by the college after the mother/baby and children units can be moved to Roanoke Memorial.
Hi halyuns...
To answer your question, yes, I'm from the area...Virginia, that is. I grew up in Newport News and after a few wasted years of my life I finally grew up and landed in Roanoke. The director of the program called me and congratulated me on my admission to JCHS, and I'd never even seen the school!!
My time at JCHS was the best school time I'd ever spent. I lived on Washington Avenue for the first 2 semesters, but then moved into the dorms the first summer. It was great!! I still communicate with a few of my classmates who've gone on to better things.
I've seen many of the changes thru the benefit of the website...all I can say is "WOW"...they have sooo many more things to do for you guys than we had!! But then, you're paying a lot of money, so you should get your money's worth!!
Study hard. It'll be worth it once you graduate!!! I'm working on my nursing degree now as well...I totally understand your frustration and fear. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! Just keep telling yourself that!!!
Best of luck...
and you should tell all your classmates about this site. TONS of useful info here!!

If you work for Carilion, the big hospital system in the area, owns JCHS, for 6 months, they will then pay foryour tuition.
