I just received my acceptance letter to the LVN program at San Jacinto North campus. I was looking for someone who had attended the program. I was hoping someone could give me some feedback / pointers or anything they would like to share about the program. :)
Look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks so much for that info. I'm freaking out b/c we're now required to take a HESI before we get in. It's been two wks since I took the Nelson Denny and I called to see when they're going to email us about the HESI and she said that it's not for another few weeks. It's a little nerve racking scary that I don't know when exactly I'm going to take it!
I applied for the North campus. The testing room monitor told us we would get our results in the mail, but I never received mine. I hope I made an alright grade. South Campus is a lot more organized than North though, so maybe that's why. I did better than both of the girls I was in the room with though, so hopefully that means I passed. I heard we would find out sometime in December. Probably the week before Christmas.
I just got my acceptance letter to San jac south- campus in an email on the 13th of November for the programme beginning spring 2010. Im so nervous but excited at the same time. Does anyone know if the VN courses are pretty much alike in other campuses? i.e. if someone is already a VN student at a different SAn Jac campus, would we be taking the same classes?

No, Thank goodness I just graduated out of that Hellhole....excuse my french. I dont know whether it was Hurricane Ike that made the program turn for the worst with my graduating class...or that two of our instructors were more focused on their coursework for their masters program. Over 90% of our class of 50+ :banghead:failed Hesi the first go round. Only ten passed the second go round. We were not prepared for it and they now have a policy taking effect for the future classes that you will have only two or three attempts at the exit hesi. All I can say is make sure you follow your student handbook as if it was your bible, because there are fine guidelines that the staff seem not to follow and sometime they needed to be corrected at that time. And to buy the Hesi-PN study guide now and study that from day one....it will clarify everything you that learn in the program and you will be more knowledgeable in the end...Dont get me wrong...do read the books that they require you just understand that it's full of Fluff(unnecessary information, some less important than others) and drawn out explanations. In the hesi book it will give you straight hard core facts that will not change, or adjust unlike word of mouth or mistakes the teachers make.
P.S. You will not go over everything in depth that is required of an LVN, so studying and understanding the HESI NOW will better prepare you for HESI AND NCLEX....I cant not express this enough...
I wish you luck and it would be very beneficial for you to get to know the other student nurses in higher levels so that they can tutor you or give you insight thru-out the program.:loveya:
