I did not have to take the HESI...for some reason unknown to me it was waived for the fall semester. I did take the Nelson Deny (pretty easy) test, but do not know my scores. I am sad to say my GPA was only a 2.68.
Are you going to San Jac North?
Ask me anything I am very nervous and scared also.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
Thanks for responding!!:) I am applying for both North and South and hope I will get accepted somewhere!:/
Did you know how many ppl applied?
South and North have different requirements, all you had 2 do was take the Nelson Deny? Lucky you got the HESI waived. South Requires it. My GPA is a 3.1 so I'm scared that its rather low for acceptance!!!
I called San Jac North and said they were still going to post a packet for Spring 2010 on the website.. and I'm anxious for that!!! Im just very very nervous!!!!
So your acceptance just depended on your Nelson Deny Scores basically??
:) waitin' for your response!")
I asked when I went to take the Nelson Deny test how many people applied, and the responce was a bunch. I was not planning on getting in on my frist try due to my GPA, but I got a LETTER.
I was told they look at your GPA, your college entrance exam scores, and the Nelson Denny scores. All I can say is I must have done well on the Nelson Deny test because my GPA was low. Did you pass all area's of the college entrance exam? If you need remedial classes you have to finish them before you apply.
I looked at north and south also, but north just seemed a little easier as far as requirements. How old are you if you do not mind me asking?
My cousin is going to apply for the spring too.
:yeah:Glad your applying!
By college entrance exam did you mean the COMPASS? I passed all areas, I was exempt from the Reading/Writing due to my TAKS scores, and I already completed College Algebra and received an A, so that would cancel out any remedial for math.
South does seem a bit more challenging w/ the HESI examination, GPA && the 2 3hr. classes they require, and they make you retake your COMPASS even if you were exempt from various parts of the exam.
So as far as north Campus admission it requires your GPA, Nelson Deny and maybe the HESI?
I am 22 yrs. old.:)
Yes, I could not think of Compass. Well from what I know you are all ready to apply at north. When you go to fill out your app. take your diploma, and your college transcript even if you already attend san jac. I also went to the counsler dept. that day to have them sign off that I did not need any remedial classes. Then the nursing dept. gave me a testing date for the Nelson Deny. This was like the last week in May I think, and on July the 14th I got my acceptance letter.
I asked about your age because when I called to set up my CPR class the lady asked what school I was going into and we started talking. She asked how old I was and she said my age may have had something to do with me getting in also. SO, thats why I asked.
Maybe you will not have to take the HESI at north like me. :wink2: I am not going to lie south is closer for me, but north looked easier to get into.
Thank you for all the info you gave me:)
I'll be sure to take all those items with me!!
So they asked you your age?! Do you think it will be harder for me to get accepted!?
I am also closer to South! I just want to get accepted somewhere! Im super stressed studying for the HESI for south and full time job and Im just about ready to loose my mind! I need that CPR cert. before actually applying to South so I need to get on that!:)
Which school is your cousin applying to? Maybe we will end up being VN students together!! :)
Im so happy you got accepted! I wish I could be an accepted one sooner or later!:/
Your Welcome! No, the school did not ask my age the lady I was setting up my CPR class with did. She just said that my age may have had something to do with me getting in...she has nothing to do with the school. I would not worry about your age one bit.
Don't stress over the CPR class either it was no big deal.
I went through the American Heart Association. I liked them becasue it was not an all day class. It was about 3 hours on a Thursday evening. If you pull up AHA you will see lots of places to go get CPR card.
Okay, one more thing I liked about North...you do not have to put out any money on CPR, or background check
until after you get in.
My cousin will appy to North. She wants to follow me so I can let her know whats coming next.
I do not think you will have any problems getting in. You sound like you are well prepared.
THats true, at South you have to do all of that before even applying! Hep b shots and whatnot!
It all depends on who's applying!! I might be prepared, but that HESI test kind of throws me off! Hope I pass it! I am really stressed out like you cant believe! I reallllly want to get accepted somewhere! If not North will be another option! ahh!
So you do you know how many applied for the fall term? I want to get a general idea! ugh!
Im frustrated!!!!!!
ON the North packets that are online it shows that you have to take 3 tests, Nelson, HESI and one more!? SO I suppose they also omited that extra test for Fall Semester?!!
Hope its lk that for us applying for SPRING!
No, I do not know how many applied for fall. We asked, but all they said was a bunch. When I go to orientation on the 14th I will see if I can find out. Yes, I only took the Nelson Denny for fall. I was told they would look a my compass, nelson denny, and GPA. Your GPA is higher than mine so I think you will be fine.
Hang in there everything is going to be fine. Are you planning on working full time and doing LVN?
If I do get accepted, which I pray to God I will, I might need to get a part-time job, since classes are during the day, and my job now is during the day it wouldnt work out quite well! With this economy at least a part-time job will help if all possible. Unless classes are really tough then I'll just stick to school. Although I'm not used to that, Ive always done both, but at this point, I just really really want to get accepteD! So Im studying right now!! Hoping that maybe I'll pass that HESI with a good gradE!
And please give me all the info on that meeting!:) See what they say! I can't thank you enough for your help!!

I just received my acceptance letter to the LVN program at San Jacinto North campus.
I was looking for someone who had attended the program. I was hoping someone could give me some feedback / pointers or anything they would like to share about the program. :)
Look forward to hearing from you.
