Has anyone here gone to MVCC's program? I'm originally from that area and went there 2001 - 2003 for general studies, but didn't learn too much about the nursing program -- and I'm assuming it has changed a bit in 10 years. I want to move back (I'm in NYC now) and am interested in their program, but was wondering exactly how competitive it is to get in as a returning student. I know a few people who went there (not anyone I'm close enough to call up), but they were all first time students, not transfers/returning. From what I can remember, they always said the program was competitive, but I'm wondering exactly how competitive in comparison to BMCC? Do they just look at pre-req's, or consider the entire GPA? Do they favor first time students over transfers? I know they'd probably prefer their students to take A&P at MVCC due to the cadaver lab, but that's about all I know.
As for Kingsborough, is a pre-req GPA of 3.58 (pre SCI 25) competitive? And is SCI 25 pretty much the same as a fundamentals chemistry course (at BMCC it's chem 121)? If that transfers to cover that course, my pre-req GPA would be a 3.7. That wouldn't be competitive enough at BMCC, but is it competitive enough for Kingsborough?
I am going to be talking to people from each program, but just wanted a general idea beforehand. I've searched the boards and can't really find anything recent in regard to MVCC or GPA requirements for Kingsborough.

I was just accepted into MVCC's fall 2012 program. While I can't answer all of your questions, I can tell you I am a returning student. I'm also not even a resident of NY yet (recently became engaged and fiancee is from the Utica area). I never took any courses at MVCC and was accepted my first time applying. I completed a BS in Biology in 2008 from University of New Haven with a subpar GPA of 2.4. They accepted all of the credits that were shared with their program, I never took A&P though, so not sure about that one. I know of a few people who were waitlisted this year so it is at least a bit competitive.
