Anyone been to army OBC?

Im hopeing to get into army OBC the beginning of 2006 and was wondering if anyone could give me some insite as to what a typical day is like. I will be living in San Antonio about 35 minutes away from Fort Sam and was wondering how early I am going to have to get up for PT and how often PT per week. Basically, Im interested in the weekly schedule and times I will have during OBC.

Are you going to the AMEDD [RC] OBC, which is 2 weeks long, or the [AC], which is at least 10 weeks long?

I completed the AMEDD [RC] OBC on 14 Jan 2005. I enjoyed it & thought it was a breeze. The [RC] OBC should be longer, IMHO. I felt sorry for those w/o any prior military service. I was AD USMC from 1980-1988. Glad I was a Squad Leader at OBC & could help those w/o any prior military experience.

I am going to be attending the longer version of OBC. I do have prior military experience as well, but its been at least 8 years since I have been in the military. I may have forgotten alot but did manage to keep in shape. Any idea on what the schedule is like? I want to know how often PT is and when. Since I will be living farther away I need to plan my schedule and child care now so that the transition will be easier.

PT is three times a week, unless you fail the diagnostic or are on the fat boy program, excuse me, politically correct term "special population". Otherwise, get your uniforms squared away, drive yourself there, so you will have wheels in San Antonio to see the town, and get your liver in shape, b/c if you like to drink a few, you will have more than an opprotunity to do so. When I went there was a sports bar in the BOQ (Bach officer's quarters), no longer there however. Aways designate a driver, or the taxi number is 210-222-2222, very easy to remember even when your two sheets under the wind.

oh yea you will be taking academic test and have a couple of papers to write as well, but if you can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time, you pass with out any trouble.

Have a great time, enjoy San Antonio, make sure to get a lot of Taco Cabana in yea, and visit Chacho's (I-10 and Callahan).

medic14 thanks for the reply and advice. Do you know what time PT starts and what the average day is like? Im guessing PT around 5 and otherstuff 9-5? ??
