Hello everyone,
I applied for the full time program for August of 2012 and was accepted but due to financial reasons couldn't start at the time. I'm now in a better position and have a full-time stable job so I can do the program part-time now. I already done my HESI and Tabe so I don't have to worry about anything except: reapply, drug screen, references, and interview. Everything is ago, just trying to find stable child care for the class and clinical schedule. Is anyone else applying for the program for October 2013 start?
I would have to take the entire exam again.....ugh that sucks but I been reviewing everything so i'm confident i'll pass the next time. I wasn't even aware the biology was going to be apart of it and was worried when I got there and there it was.......but passed with no review. As far as the August program being delayed i would assume some would come to evening part-time. That my actually be a good thing. Last I heard they were talking about the part time maybe being delayed due to not having enough students so that my be good, only if I can hurry up and pass this darn test I would be good!!
Oh, I didn't realize or remember the biology being a part of it the last time I applied. Well maybe the August one was a blessing in disguise after all. I remember last year when the program was suppose to start since May. Well, that just would be a good thing after all, thank God. As far as the test, I hope you will do well. I was so nervous when I took it before and thought I failed. Thank God I didn't!
Oh ok. Not as yet. I think I will wait until I get the official "acceptance" again. My son's aunt just finished the lpn program in Va and told me what to buy as far as resources. So I got a list at home. I may however getva medical term book soon to brush up on that. I was going over abbreviations with my cousin and I am a bit rusty on some things.
Oh ok, you think you can share that resource list? I did get the fundamentals book off ebay. I figure even if for some reason I don't get in I don't plan to give up so something for me to read until I figure out my next move. Congrats Newbie2013...yea I can't wait either i'm just ready to start and finish....lol

Sure. This is what she told me down below:
Kaplan's NCLEX-PN 2013-2014
Med Surg Notes by Tracey Hopkins
Med-Surg Success: A Course Review Applying Critical Thinking to Test Taking (Davis's Q&A Series) by Kathryn Colgrove and Ray Huttel
Anything related to A&P and medical Terms, classes of drugs
Nursing Drug Handbook
The books I just did my own research with. She said Med-surg was one of the biggies. I also talked to her the other day and she told me that Pathophysiology was one of the harder subjects for her to know how to figure out what's wrong with the person: diagnoses, symptoms, etc.

Do you have to take the entire test over or just the grammar part? I received a letter from TECO the other day and they said that the August cohort is cancelled and to apply for the January one. They sent this in error, because I'm applying for the part-time program, not full-time. However, my suggestion is just to continue to get a head start on everything because people more people just might end up applying for the October cohort if they don't want to wait. That is what I am thinking, not certain though but just thought you should know. As far as the interview, the Program Specialist stated that I should hear something by September. So we have some time.
