Anyone applying to ELMSN program at Samuel Merritt?

Published

Just wondering if anyone is in the same boat I'm in. I'm trying to get everything together right now so I can get into the program for Fall 2009. I still need to start my goal statement! I'm not even sure if I'll get in cuz my gpa is not that impressive. That's the only thing I'm worried about.

So there are others out there like me, I would love to read about your experience so I can feel a little less stressed! Thank you!

Well im stressed about my personal statement...that is umm due for another school Nov 1st.

I intend to apply for this program as well - Fall 2009.

I haven't taken the NET yet, have you?

I'm taking it this month at SMC. I still haven't started studying yet!

Me too! I just signed up right now for the test this month in Sacramento. I purchased the study guide too so hopefully that will get here soon.

Hello! I start at SMC in Sacramento in January. I was accepted a couple of days after my interview so maybe you'll accept my pointers :p

I wouldn't worry about the NET. It really isn't that bad. If you made it through college then you probably won't have a problem. The math is pretty easy if you have a science background, so if you feel like reviewing you may want to focus on English more. I didn't study and I still did fine.

As far as your GPA goes, I wouldn't stress too much about it. There are many other things they look at when considering an applicant. My GPA wasn't stellar but I had plenty of letters and experience to make up for that. I took the GRE as well so I think that helped.

For the goal statement I was just honest. I didn't invest a lot of time worrying about making it "perfect". I just stated what I wanted to do and why (story time).

If you guys have any questions feel free to ask.

Hey I applied to the Sacramento program as well, but did not get in. I made it to the interview but blew it. I say just be yourself throughout the entire process and don't let the process stress you out so much you loose focus on your goal of becoming a nurse. Its a good program but not the only program so don't put all your eggs in one basket. Congrates to you who got in, I wish you the best.

That's such a shame. I'm really sorry to hear that kdbworkingmom. Are you planning to reapply? I hope you get in the second time around if you do decide to apply again.

Thanks for the interviewing tip! The interview is actually the part I'm dreading most because I get EXTREMELY nervous during interviews. One time, my nerves got to me so much to the point where I cried during an interview. It was so humiliating.

I am hoping to get into some other programs. I don't think I will apply to that specific program again. With the cost and the stress level I experienced I think it was in Gods plan that I didn't get in. Anyway really be yourself in the interview don't stress out its really a psychological type thing and not really about who you are or your abilities just how you handle unfamiliar territory. Don't act how you think they want you to, just do and say the first thing that comes to mind.
