I recently left hospital nursing to work in public health and am absolutely miserable. I am so bored I want to scream! I thought this would be the ideal job - 8-5 Monday through Friday, no holidays, no stress. Am I crazy? Don't get me wrong, I don't miss the stress or the BS of the hospital admin, but I miss my patients and I miss feeling like I make a difference. Someone slap me, please.
Volunteer work with indiviuals may assist you and fill the void you feel right now.
I work M-F as an educator in a clinic setting. Missed my patients but not the headaches that came along with too long hours, etc.
Volunteer at my church and the community helping some of those same people. Homeless shelter. Planning to start a Parish Health Nursing program at my church and give health talks in the community.

Hi. I'm new to this site- and happy to see all the nurses here. I too am missing the bedside. I spent years in the ICU/CCU, PACU and everything in between. I now do Utilization Review for Worker's comp. I now need to earn some additional money but am unsure where to start? I haven't been at the bedside for three years and feel rusty and a bit insecure. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!
